In February, Tom helped a client successfully close the first round of fund-raising for a $100 million fund for investments in Africa and Asia.
Tom recently assisted a client with a successful exit from its investment in Cambodian microfinance institution Sathapana Limited.
In June of 2009, Mr. Vega-Byrnes was retained by a manufacturer headquartered in Hong Kong to handle an investment in a North American distributor.
Tom was counsel to ShoreBank International, Ltd., as Fund Servicer, to the BRAC Africa Loan Fund. See the Press Room for details.

BRAC Africa Loan Fund
In late October 2008, Mr. Vega-Byrnes helped client ShoreBank International, Ltd. (SBI), close the BRAC Africa Loan Fund, in which SBI acts as Fund Servicer, and BRAC, a leading international development organization founded in Bangladesh, is the Fund Sponsor. The Fund raised $62.6 million in debt capital to provide microfinance loans to poor borrowers in Tanzania, Uganda and Southern Sudan. Follow the link for the press release from BRAC.
